Influência de intervenções educacionais sobre nutrição e sustentabilidade em estudantes universitários equatorianos que residem em Honduras

Resumo
Os hábitos alimentares podem ser comprometidos na transição para a vida universitária, especialmente em um novo país. Além disso, os padrões alimentares dos jovens universitários podem ser melhorados por meio de várias estratégias durante o processo de adaptação à faculdade. Portanto, alguns pontos-chaves são a nutrição e a sustentabilidade, cujos conteúdos podem ser ministrados por meio de sessões educacionais em universidades.
O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito de intervenções educacionais sobre a adesão à dieta mediterrânea (DM) e hábitos alimentares em estudantes universitários equatorianos do primeiro ano em Honduras, onde a população estudantil do Equador ocupa o segundo lugar, depois de Honduras. Os padrões alimentares foram avaliados por meio de um questionário sobre adesão à DM e outro sobre comportamentos alimentares. As intervenções educacionais foram focadas nos benefícios para a sustentabilidade, cultura, meio ambiente e saúde que a DM oferece. O estudo teve uma fase de diagnóstico com a participação do universo de alunos (n = 65), e uma fase de intervenção onde participaram 32 alunos: 18 alunos participantes do grupo que recebeu educação nutricional e 14 no grupo controle. O grupo que recebeu intervenção educativa melhorou seus comportamentos alimentares, passando de não saudáveis ??para moderadamente saudáveis, porém, a adesão a DM não apresentou aumento ao final das intervenções (p> 0,05). O grupo controle não apresentou alteração em nenhuma avaliação, mantendo comportamentos não saudáveis ??e baixa adesão a DM. Cinquenta por cento dos alunos do grupo de intervenção voltaram ao Equador durante a crise do COVID-19, enquanto no grupo de controle foi de 71,4%. Em conclusão, é importante aconselhar sobre nutrição e sustentabilidade desde o início dos estudos universitários, já que os jovens migram para um país com costumes totalmente diferentes do Equador, inclusive da Comunidade Andina.
